Will Impulse locks the apps that trigger your impulse food orders. When you open a locked app, a lock screen stands in the way — and getting past it takes a quiz, a wait, or keys. This policy describes how Will Impulse handles your information. It is published on the Google Play Store under the developer name ODN & Sons. In short: Will Impulse works offline. Your locks, stats and keys stay on your phone and are never uploaded. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, and no analytics or tracking.
What Will Impulse Needs From You
Two Android permissions make the shield possible, and the app shows you exactly which ones are on. Here is every permission the app uses and exactly why:
✓ Usage Access
What: Permission to view app usage (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS).
Why: Lets the shield see which app is currently in front so it can step in when you open a locked app.
What it does NOT do: It reads nothing inside those apps — no content, no messages, no orders. Usage information is checked on your device in real time and is not stored or sent anywhere.
✓ Display Over Other Apps
What: Permission to draw over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW).
Why: Lets the lock screen appear on top of a locked app. It is only ever used to show Will Impulse's own lock screen.
✓ List of Installed Apps
What: The ability to see the apps installed on your phone.
Why: So you can choose which apps to lock. The list is shown to you inside the app and your chosen locks are saved on your device only. We never receive or upload your list of installed apps.
✓ Run After Restart
What: Permission to receive the boot-completed signal (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED).
Why: So the shield starts again after a reboot or an app update and your locks keep working. Used entirely locally.
✓ In-App Purchases (Keys)
What: Access to Google Play Billing.
Why: Keys are optional consumable items bought inside the app to skip a challenge. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase succeeded — never your card number, billing address, or any payment details. Your key balance is stored on your device.
✓ Optional Permissions
- Notifications — only for the small "shield active" notice.
- Battery optimisation exemption — so Android doesn't put the shield to sleep.
- Device admin — optional uninstall protection, so Android itself refuses to remove the app while it is on. Device admin is not used to read, wipe, or control any data on your phone.
✓ No Internet Data & No Other Permissions
Apart from Google Play Billing for optional key purchases, Will Impulse sends no data over the internet and does not request or use:
- Accounts or sign-in
- Contacts, call logs, SMS, or phone state
- Camera, microphone, or your photos
- Location (GPS or network-based)
- Any advertising, analytics, or tracking service
1. Information We Collect
None. Will Impulse does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, and no analytics or tracking.
2. Data Stored On Your Device
The app saves the following using Android's private app storage on your device:
- Which apps you have chosen to lock, and each lock's difficulty setting
- Challenge progress (correct answers so far, wait timers) and temporary unlock timers
- Your key balance
- Your stats — orders avoided, money saved (based on your own per-order estimate), clean-day streaks and medals
This information never leaves your phone. It is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
3. How the Shield Works
Will Impulse uses usage access to notice when a locked app comes to the foreground, and the display-over-other-apps permission to show its lock screen on top of it. Locks are tied to an app's package name, so a locked app that is removed and reinstalled is locked again when it returns. While the shield is on, the Android uninstall dialog is blocked for Will Impulse and for locked apps. None of this involves reading the content of other apps or sending information anywhere.
4. Purchases
Keys are sold in packs through Google Play Billing. Prices are shown in your currency and charged by Google Play under Google's own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store any payment details.
5. Third Parties
The only third party involved is Google Play, and only when you choose to buy keys. Will Impulse contains no advertising networks and no analytics services. We do not share data with anyone because we do not collect any.
6. Children
Will Impulse is not directed at children under 13. The app contains no ads and no data collection. Because it collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children either.
7. Your Rights
Since all Will Impulse data lives only on your device, you have full control over it directly — clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes it. If you have contacted us by email and wish for that correspondence to be deleted, let us know and we will do so promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Will Impulse after an update means you accept the revised policy.
